Designed with aesthetics in mind, BiSolar is a new type of solar roof. The system is made from interconnected solar roof tiles that blend in beautifully and are not easily seen.
Each solar roof tile is made from two basic parts:
Looks like a normal tiled roof, adding value to homes.
Performs like a normal tiled roof – no changes to original roof tiles.
Installed like a normal tiled roof, reducing the cost of installation.
Protected worldwide by a strong utility patent.
Whether you are a concrete roof tile manufacturer, a house builder, a roofer, a solar installer, a BIPV supplier, or an architect, BiSolar gives you a fantastic new business opportunity. Enhance your product range in the rapidly growing photovoltaic roofing industry.
In 2016, Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing accounted for just 1% of the overall PV market. Due to increasing demand, this was forecasted to rise steeply to 6.5% by 2022, but has since excelled all expectations and is now already at 6%, generating around 6 GW of power world-wide.
The 6 GW output equates to about 10 billion Euro yearly turnover – the global BIPV roofing market has grown from 1.5 billion Euros to 10 billion Euros in the last three years.
This trend is predicted to continue, driven by the demand for aesthetically pleasing, solar-roof integration. In addition, people will become more aware of the benefits of battery storage, the cost of batteries will continue to decrease, and €/Wp will improve with new advancements in solar technologies.
A recent study by MIT found that people are willing to pay a higher price for better-looking solar panels, with panels that blend into the background and match the colour of the roof being most preferred.
The study also found that people would buy less efficient solar panels if they were aesthetically pleasing, and that presenting images of better-looking solar panels reduced the uncertainty of installing solar for customers.
The researchers concluded that aesthetics is a major driving factor in the adoption of solar panels – people want solar panels that integrate with the roof and don’t stand out / are not easily seen.
